June Meeting Notes

The June meeting was held at DeAnna Herrin’s house. Phil cooks a great hamburgers and chicken. The side dishes brought by the other chics rounded the lunch up to a great meal. Many stories were told about various rides and wrecks. Wrong way spun a tale about hitting a deer. He was going to work and had the choice between a pick-up truck coming the other directions, a rod iron fence and telephone pole, or a deer. The deer “won”. A week, 3 broken ribs and a collapsed lung later and all was “well”.

Suz talked about safety before you ride. The tips we talked about were:

  • Check your lights
  • Check all the way around your bike
  • Check your brakes
  • Check your turn signals
  • Check the pressure in your tire. If you have a touring bike the pressure should be 36 for the front and 40 for the back
  • Check your tire tread. If you can place a quarter in the tread, your tire is good.
  • Check for bolts that are loose especially on the foot pegs (Can be done when you wash your bike)
  • Check your air shocks with a gauge and pump.

Suz also talked about safety when you are riding by your self:

  • On a four lane road, ride on the left side closest to the white line
  • Stay far enough behind the “big” trucks especially in the summer because the re-treads can come off.
  • Stay far away from trucks carrying anything that is flapping

Remember July 16th is Ride your Motorcycle to work day.

The next ride will be on Sunday, July 20th. Meet at Full Boar 8:30 am kickstands up at 9:00am. The destination is unknown at press time.

The next meeting will be on July 27th at Suz Medley’s house. Bring your favorite dish.
